Welcome to the Rotary Club of Yarraville

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Yarraville, I would like to welcome you to our new web page.  If you’re a community member in Inner West Melbourne and are looking for the opportunity to serve that community, then I’d love for you to consider coming along to our club.  Whilst our membership numbers are small, we punch above our weight in terms of community impact.  So if you’d like to make a difference to your community alongside a group of like-minded people please come along.

Aaron DeBuhr - Immediate Past Club President
Medical Supplies to Zimbabwe
In 2025, the Rotary Club of Yarraville built a relationship with Zimbabwe consulate through our Club President Margaret Brett’s work with Australian & African trade.

After meeting with Joe Tapera Mhishi, Ambassador of Zimbabwe, and Auxillia Mnangagwa, First Lady of Zimbabwe, we learned that regional hospitals needed essential medical equipment and supplies.

This initiated a few visits to the Rotary Donations In Kind (DIK) warehouse, and identifying what equipment was available and require, Rotary Yarraville sponsored the project. Through the wide Rotary network we were able to fill a shipping container with vital second-hand medical equipment — including wheelchairs, crutches, electric beds, patient trolley, walkers, a neonatal cot & phototherapy, IV poles, blood pressure monitors, microscope, medical consumables, patient clothing, and more.

After a long journey by sea and road, the container safely arrived in Harare last week (Feb 2026). Seeing photos of hospital staff unpacking the supplies reminds us at impact we can make as members of Rotary. Items no longer needed in Australia are now supporting patients and medical teams in Zimbabwe.

This is Rotary — identifying needs, working together, and taking action to make a difference to support health of communities around the world.. 💛
